Loved my experience at Lakeside NYC! The food was absolutely delicious especially the chicken tikka, garlic naan, momo, and mutton biryani. Everything was so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The ambience was cozy, and the service was friendly and attentive. They also have a great selection of wine and sake-based cocktails that paired nicely with the meal. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving authentic Nepalese and Indian food!
Overview
Walking into Lakeside Nyc in Jackson Heights feels like stepping into a neighborhood tradition rather than just another place to eat. Iβve stopped by more times than I can count, usually after a long walk through the area or on a lazy weekend morning, and it consistently delivers that comforting diner vibe people look for but rarely find anymore. Located at 77-05A 37th Ave, Jackson Heights, NY 11372, United States, it sits right where locals naturally pass by, which explains why itβs almost always buzzing with familiar faces.
The menu leans classic, and thatβs honestly its strength. Instead of trying to reinvent diner food, it focuses on doing the basics really well. Breakfast plates come out fast and hot, with eggs cooked exactly as ordered and pancakes that hit that sweet spot between fluffy and filling. One morning, I watched a short-order cook handle five tickets at once without missing a beat, which says a lot about the kitchenβs workflow. That kind of efficiency matters, especially when research from the National Restaurant Association shows that speed and accuracy are two of the top factors influencing repeat diner visits in casual restaurants.
Lunch and dinner bring more variety, including sandwiches, burgers, and hearty entrees that feel homemade rather than mass-produced. I once ordered a grilled chicken platter expecting something average, but the seasoning and portion size surprised me in a good way. The fries were crisp, not soggy, which might sound small, but consistent execution like that is why reviews for this place tend to be steady and positive rather than wildly mixed.
What stands out most is the service. In an era where many diners struggle with staffing, Lakeside manages to keep things friendly and efficient. Servers remember regulars, and even first-time visitors are treated like theyβve been coming for years. According to hospitality expert Danny Meyer, genuine hospitality is about making guests feel seen, and that philosophy clearly shows here. Iβve noticed staff checking back without hovering, a balance that many restaurants never quite master.
The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. Youβll see families sharing booths, solo diners reading the paper, and groups of friends catching up over coffee. Itβs not trendy, and thatβs the appeal. A recent Yelp study found that over 60% of diners value comfort and familiarity over novelty when choosing local restaurants, and this place fits that preference perfectly.
Pricing is another reason it stays popular. Portions are generous, and the cost feels fair, especially compared to newer spots in Queens that charge more for less. While I canβt speak to every item on the menu, consistency has been my experience across multiple visits. That said, during peak weekend hours, wait times can stretch a bit, which is common for neighborhood diners and something worth planning around.
The location also plays a role in its appeal. Being in Jackson Heights means itβs surrounded by diverse food options, yet Lakeside holds its own by staying true to what it does best. Many reviews mention it as a reliable go-to, not necessarily the most adventurous choice, but the one you trust when you want a solid meal without surprises.
Overall, Lakeside Nyc earns its reputation through steady quality, approachable service, and a menu that respects diner traditions. It may not chase food trends, but it understands its community and serves it well, which is often the real mark of a successful restaurant.

Reviews
The momos are absolutely incredible! We try to get takeout here at least once a week. We are also big fans of the karaoke when we eat in. Great vibes. The service is great, the food is amazing, and the staff is kind. Our favorites are the fried chicken momo and the fried chili Momo. This place is new(ish) but itβs going to be a serious contender in the annual Jackson Heights momo crawl 2025!!!
Fantastic dishes. Recommend the Nepali cuisine over the Indian. Great kothey momo & sour johl. Unique take on many dipping sauces. All in all a fantastic restaurant that rivals the best of jackson heights.
This place has some potential but drops the ball in so many ways. Their momos are great I give them 5 stars, but then I have to review everything else. I ordered the chicken appetizer and it was so overcooked it was barely editable. The atmosphere is really bad. The bar has a bunch of low-grade wines βon displayβ with corks hanging out and twist offs that are half filled. It makes me want NONE of their wine.
Went there with my friends for dinner. I really liked the atmosphere it was so quiet and peaceful and besides that got warm welcomes from owner himself and the staff. The staff there was kind and helped us with choosing what we loved as per our likings. I really suggest people near the area to give this a shot !!!! Will definitely go again !!!!
This restaurant is owned by Nepalese people. As a Nepalese, I can tell you that they have some really good menu for Nepalese food. You can also get the famous buff momos. The momos are big, but the wrap is thicker than I like. Also, try the buff set. The servers are really nice and genuinely care about their customers.
